Just out of interest, I have had several problems getting S&F working on a wordpress site. The most recent issue was with the search form not searching, but sending me to what would be the search page, but showing all results. It has driven me absolutely crazy and still isn’t fixed.
However, the problem in my case appears to be the use of nginx as a reverse proxy, and page redirects. My hosting company, usually very good, have been buggering about with the setup in order to allow simple 301 redirects from html sites to wordpress sites, and even between html pages/sites. It seems that cpanel redirects using apache and htaccess just don’t work unless they make changes to nginx setup – they never really tell me for sure what they’ve done.
Having ‘fixed’ the issue of search forms not working a week or so ago I pointed out that redirects (I have to point 12 old html sites towards one wordpress site) were not working at all. No problem, they said. They made a few changes to the nginx setup and lo and behold, the redirects started working.
Except this morning, when I went to check the wordpress site and the search bar, it didn’t work at all. I’m waiting for the support guy who has been ‘helping’ me to start work today to see if he can undo what he did over the weekend.
It’s a truly ridiculous situation, but at least I know the S&F plugin isn’t the issue, even if it feels like it is, but down to the server setup with nginx as a reverse proxy. Just in case this info is useful for anybody else……
Trevor(Private) July 28, 2016 at 10:50 am #52415I had the same issue about a year ago and in the end gave up on nginx. cPanel are at last getting their @rse in gear and cPanel 58, if installed from new, now sets up with EasyApache 4.
In turn, this allows you to use PHP 7 and PHP-FPM and a host of new stuff to speed things up. Even better, they have their own implementation of nginx as the reverse proxy coming, and also a Let’s Encrypt plugin will be out soon.

Out of curiosity which host are you with?
Currently experiencing a lot of nginx related problems with mine :@
Anonymous(Private) July 29, 2016 at 9:33 am #52595Futurehosting.com – I have a VPS and they added nginx on request as a reverse proxy.
Yesterday I asked them to undo everything they had done with the nginx setup and they said they had done as requested, but today the form is still as dead as can be. I’m seriously thinking about removing the filter bar because it causes endless problems – I’m sure it’s a setup problem on the server rather than the plugin, but as it stands it is totally non-functional and is killing the site.
The problem is that whatever issues the hosting co have getting the setup right (and to be fair they are generally excellent and the server is quick and has never had an outage in over a year) the problems prevent me from having both a working S&F form (on up to 150 taxonomy pages and 3 CPT archives) and redirects (both on the home site and also older html sites that need to be redirected to the home site) at the same time. It seems to be one or the other, not both.
Anonymous(Private) July 30, 2016 at 7:00 pm #52796Ah well, took a couple of days, but now all working again. What a pain in the butt.
I suspect half the problem is not so much nginx but support people who aren’t entirely familiar with it, and also the problems coming from tickets being dealt with by different people on different days. All the problems seem to come from how nginx deals with redirects.Anonymous(Private) July 31, 2016 at 8:47 am #52820Well, they have assigned the ticket to a senior support guy who is looking into it, but the thought had crossed my mind. I’m just concerned that it will affect speed, not just for this but other sites. With the existing setup, paired with wp rocket, it seems to work quite well… except for the damned redirects. No idea why it should be so difficult to do something so simple.
