Hey Philip
This sounds right, but of course if you choose some search parameters these will also be filtered on the results URL?
Basically this just allows you to put the search form anywhere and it will always end up on the results URL.
Thanks

yes, it filters just fine, no problem there. What I meant was, if i put the search form on my home page, it automatically shows the first 12 (in my case) results out of all the results, complete with pagination, on my home page. This is before you have entered anything to search for.
I was just looking to have the search box there, leading to a results page after you searched for something.I think I will go back to the non-Ajax set up, it seems more suited to searching rather than filtering.

Create a new page with the results shortcode on, then add the URL of this page to
results url
.. Then on your home page addnthe regular short code for the form .This way you can have the search widget on your homepage without any results and submitting the form will take you to the results url.
Just make sure the results short code does not appear on the homepage and tou won’t see results on your homepage ๐
Does that make sense?
Anonymous(Private) November 11, 2014 at 10:06 am #7411Hi Ross
yes, that makes perfect sense, because that’s the way I have done it, as per #7351 โ ๐
Honestly it doesn’t matter anyway, I’m not going to use it now, I prefer the non-Ajax way when I compare the two.
Thank you,
Philip.
PS: I still have it up on a test page, let me know if you want a look.Ross Moderator(Private) November 11, 2014 at 10:05 pm #7445Yeah sure Philip fire over a link, would be good to get confirmation its working as expected ๐
Anonymous(Private) November 12, 2014 at 3:05 pm #7472Hi,
sorry, I took it down. The funny thing is, it WAS working as intended when I tried it again after that. Could it have been my cache? I did have the results short code on that page prior to that, then took it off, but nothing changed, hence my post.
So thanks anyway, again!

Philip.Ross Moderator(Private) November 12, 2014 at 3:13 pm #7473Ah yes it could have been a caching issue, always worth clearing cache and refresh after any changes have been made just in case ๐
Thanks
Ross Moderator(Private) November 14, 2014 at 2:29 pm #7658Hey Elvina, why not create a seperate page, with no results shorcode and just the search form, then when a user presses submit they are taken to the search results page?
