Hi.
https://www.cantusyouthchoirs.com/auditionsubmissions/
I’m not sure why I can’t filter my results all the way down. For example, I want to see the 11th graders that auditioned for VOICEOVER, BELLA VISI AND FORTIS. To do this … I would expect to check the box VOICEOVER, BELLA VISI AND FORTIS and 11TH GRADE. I have the whole filter set to AND not OR … but I know I’m probably doing something wrong, but I’m not sure what it is.
SONG and GRADES are based on categories.
Thanks,
Keith
Trevor(Private) June 14, 2019 at 9:09 am #214034I see the issue. You are searching posts and have 2 groups of category terms, each represented by a form/field. One is for ‘Song’ and one is for ‘Grades’.
You cannot have ‘Category’ more than once on a form. What you need is 2 Custom Taxonomies instead, so you can use each one in the form once. Each taxonomy will have just the terms you need for that subject/field.
This post tries to explain this a bit better (you can use a plugin to switch category terms from category to any new taxonomy that you make, so it is not so hard to do). It is a really awful preachy lecture I wrote:

Sorry about the tone, but the message is right and it links to good plugins (except taxonomy switcher I think).
Taxonomy switcher is a ‘use once and remove(deactivate and delete)’ type of plugin, and it uses ‘hidden’ features in WordPress that have not changed for about 2 years.
Anonymous(Private) June 20, 2019 at 1:54 am #214530Hi Trevor. Thank you for the guidance. I read through the article you provided and have downloaded the Custom Post Type UI plugin by WebDevStudios.
BTW, I loved the tone! 🙂
Here’s what I’ve done:
I’ve created a post type called Cantus Media.
I’ve created the following taxonomies: Media Type, Directors, Concerts, Ensembles, Seasons.
I’ve created categories (I think?) that go in each taxonomy (music videos, audio recordings, winter concert, season 9, etc). This whole structure is visible on the right sidebar on this test page:
https://www.cantusyouthchoirs.com/media-2/
I’ve created two Cantus Media posts called test 1 and test 2.
https://www.cantusyouthchoirs.com/cantus_media/cantus-media-test-1/
https://www.cantusyouthchoirs.com/cantus_media/cantus-media-test-2/At one point on my create new Cantus Media post page, I was able to check boxes in my right sidebar and assign my post as MediaType:MusicVideo, Director:Keith McCauley, Concerts:WinterConcert, etc. Those check boxes are gone now. I’m not sure what I did. BUT even when I had successfully published a Cantus Media post with those boxes checked, I was UNABLE to actually view the posts on the search results page (media-2).
I’m not quite sure what I’m doing wrong, and I’m not quite sure where to go from this point. Could you send up some sparks or ideas for me to consider? Many thanks.
