I have a custom post type for resumes, and I created a search form that filters resumes by a number of variables (sex, age, location etc.).

However, now I’m having trouble placing both things on the same page. In other words, I want to create a page where you have the list of resumes on the left, and the search form on the right (inside a widget), just like I saw on Demo 1 (http://demo.designsandcode.com/sfpro-movie-reviews/) – instead of movies, imagine resumes.

I know that is a newbie question, but I really would appreciate some help.

    Hey Estevao

In WP have you gone to appearance -> widgets? Here you will see a widget called “Search & Filter”.

Before you can add the widget, you must create a search form:

    Thanks

    Hi, Ross.

Thank you for the fast response.

I already created the search form and the widget. What I can’t do is the following:

    1. Place the widget on the right side of the page, like in the demo I linked to (it is getting on the bottom of the page);
    2. Control the pages on which the widget appears.

    Thanks again!

    Hi there

So what you are really asking is, how can I make my widget area appear on the side in my theme?

This really is not a S&F question at all but a theme question.

Different themes create different widget areas – and have them displayed in different areas of the site – where they are displayed is defined by the theme itself.

Some themes have options, to add widget areas for things like sidebars so have a look around there.

Some themes have multiple widget areas – so they have the for sidebars on product pages, or a specific area on the homepage.

Once you found out how to do this, or find a theme that has a widget area for the sidebar (its pretty standard really) you can use a plugin like Widget Logic (https://en-gb.wordpress.org/plugins/widget-logic/) to control the display even further.

    Thanks
