    I would like to make custom result.php for each different search forms, but I am not sure how to get each form to direct to that certain php file.

    Are you using our Shortcode display results method:

    In the customising section, you can create results templates for individual forms (using their ID numbers) and each language of the form has its own ID number, thus allowing you to make individual language templates that you can edit your self. The strings are found in the templates.

    We were using a php file with the search form id as template before (this was a couple years back and it seems like things have changed. Will look into the shortcode method

    template name would just be [ID].php? nothing else?

    That is correct. Stored in the correct folder in the child theme.
