How to filter dropdown field by condition

Hi, is there a hook or filter to add condition (ex: is empty) to dropdown showing field?
We need to hide some option if other condition is verified (for example if a post has related past events). How can we do that? Thank you

If this is to happen with the form as the user interacts with it, then I guess you can use javascript to do this (hooked to the change event), or if you need to change values shown, you can use the Filter Input Object filter.
