Hi Ross,
I know you’re very busy trying to get the new documentation done for 2.0, so I’m hoping this is a very simple question to answer, something I’m just overlooking.
When someone uses the primary search form (WP default) on our home page, they get to our search results page, on which I have the S&F Pro filters in the sidebar so they can filter the results. Works great.
BUT if someone isn’t finding the results they expect, they need to be able to clear their original search term(s) and start over…..I tried adding a “reset” button to the filters that show in the sidebar, and it does clear the filters (checkboxes), but it doesn’t reset the original search term passed to the results page from the home page search box….that stays in the URL and in the “Search Results For:” verbiage……same thing if I add a plain search box to the filters…..allows for searching on a new term, but doesn’t clear the original term searched for.
I’m sure there must be a simple solution……what am I missing?

I had a quick look locally and my reset button is clearing the form fine.
Do you have a link I could look at? Is this using 2.0?
Thanks

Yes, as noted a “reset” button does clear the filters just fine…..but it doesn’t let someone start a new search without the original search term – so it doesn’t clear the search parameters that are in the URL already.
So if you start on the home page search box, and type in a search term (let’s say “Cancun”), then you go to the search results page on which the S&F Pro filters appear that allow you to ‘refine’ (filter) the results. One gets all posts tagged “Cancun”. But if they don’t like any of the results, and decide to search *instead* for “Punta Cana”, in order to start a NEW search, they have to go back to the home page – even if I add a basic search box to my filters, it only *adds* to the original search term, it doesn’t replace it. So the new results show all posts tagged “Cancun” OR “Punta Cana”.
I still think I must be missing something very simple — I feel like a dunce for even asking — but once someone is on the results/filter page, how can they search for something different – do I need a different filter form? So two filter forms on the results page? Ideally I want to keep them on that page and just have the results change…..

Certainly sounds odd – you definitely should not need to 2 search forms.
What version of S&F are you using? Can you send me a link?
Thanks
