I want to use search with EDD products so users can enter a search term and the search results will be all EDD products that have the search term in their titles or product descriptions.

I am aware of this page: https://searchandfilter.com/documentation/3rd-party/easy-digital-downloads/ but its not getting me where I want to be.

Here is what I have inserted on the search results page
    [downloads search_filter_id=’14304′]
14304 is the correct post ID for the search form

The list of all products displays on the search results page. Before the product listings I want a search box displayed so users can filter the displayed products so only those matching the search term will display as search results.

On the search form settings page: on the General tab I’ve selected the “Downloads” Custom Post Type. Under Search Form UI I have selected “Search” and “Submit Button”
    On the Display Results tab
-I have selected “EDD – Downloads Page”
    – Under Template Options I’ve entered the search results page full URL. That page has the [downloads search_filter_id=’14304′] shortcode on it.
On the Posts tab, I’ve selected Post Status: Published

I am seeing all of the products listed on the search results page. But there’s no search box displaying so products can’t be filtered.

What changes must I make for the Search box to display before the product listing?
    thank you

You would need to add another shortcode:

    [searchandfilter id="14304"]

Thank you, that resolved the issue. Comment is, it would be useful in the EDD article at https://searchandfilter.com/documentation/3rd-party/easy-digital-downloads/ to explain in addition to the EDD Downloads shortcode, the [searchandfilter id=”12345″] shortcode is also necessary. My (incorrect) reading of the EDD page was that the downloads shortcode took care of displaying the search box.

    thank you!

Thanks for getting back to me. I will close this thread for now.

We will be re-writing the documentation soon, so I will make a note to do that.
