    You will need your portfolio gird from page builder on the page, and immediately above it, have a text element with a shortcode like this in it:

    [searchandfilter id="1234" action="filter_next_query"]

    Where you change the ID number to match the form ID of your search form.

    In the search form, in the Display Results settings tab, make sure it is set to Custom and that Ajax is OFF and that the Results URL points to the page with the portfolio element on it.

    Are you able to send me a live link/URL to your search page so I can take a look?

    Your theme may have some CSS that is causing this.
