I’ve read this topic and the underlying topics and want to reach something similar to:
https://www.covidhelpcenter.com/
https://demo.products-filter.com/In my case its about a ”province filter”. And after selecting the province there will be the ”city filter” with the cities belonging to the province. There will be upto 100 or 200 cities, and theres 12 provinces in total.
We planned to just set this up with parent/child, and this worked well at once on the https://pixolette.com/wordpress-plugins/live-search-and-custom-fields/ lscf plugin. However I see you suggest to make custom taxonomies for the underlying child categories (cities), is that correct? So should we make 12 new taxonomies (for all the provinces) and add the cities in each of those? And after that couple that to the ”parent” manually? That seems not so handy to do because the goal is that the customer can simply add city/province and that the filter would work automatically with that. In that case the backend will look kind of messy with 13 taxonomies on the right side (instead of 1)
Hope you can help out!
Anonymous(Private) June 30, 2020 at 9:14 am #250603Ah okay I think I got it. Gotta set up one taxonomy for ”cities”.
Then just select the ”province” in the province taxonomy and the corresponding city in the city taxonomy and than hide empty ”cities” in the filter options, is that best practise to do this using search and filter plugin? -
