Forums › Forums › Search & Filter Pro › Group posts by custom taxonomy
Hi guys, is it possible to group posts by a custom taxonomy? I’m using the custom results template within my theme folder.
For example:
Taxonomy slug: fruits
Taxonomy term (heading): Apples
Taxonomy term (heading): Strawberries
I’d like to use a similar technique like this: https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/32902/display-all-posts-in-a-custom-post-type-grouped-by-a-custom-taxonomy
Whilst it is possible to sort by Custom Field (meta Key) – as long as that key holds a single value – it is not possible to sort by taxonomy, as taxonomies are designed to have multiple values. To then provide intermediate headings would have to be handle by the template (by detecting the heading type for each post and when the loop is passed through checking if it has changed.
But this is not a feature of Search & Filter as such.
