Hi, I had this thought as well. I will wait on this question until after deployment, since the whole hosting situation will be different at that point.
Do you have any special instructions for using caching? (I would like to use W3TotalCache and/or CDN if possible, but not if it interferes with the filter functionality.)

Trevor(Private) March 15, 2017 at 6:44 pm #97121I have found W3Totalcache to be somewhat problematic, so I use CometCache instead. W3Totalcache has not really been updated or maintained for a long time (only a few small fixes since).
Whatever you do, do NOT develop or test with a cache or CDN in place. Afterwards it SHOULD be OK, but if you see strange things happening, they are your suspect.
The biggest single factor in site speed is the choice of host, not using cache or CDN. Read this:
https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/faster-with-cloudways-wpmu-dev/
I did similar tests and found I could improve a site I had on a dedicated SSD drive server moving it to Cloudways with appropriate setup (not the WPMU plugins quoted in the article, but similar, including using CometCache pro), the site I tested was 10x faster in the front end and 5 times faster in the back end. The dedicated server cost $90 a month, the Cloudways one was $17 a month. Makes you think.
Anonymous(Private) March 15, 2017 at 8:00 pm #97156Thanks for the advice! I had heard of CometCache, and I’ll give that a try if needed.
I hear you re: developing with a caching plugin active. I’ll steer clear! 🙂
I really appreciate the site speed tips we well. It’s important to get the best service for your money. I have noticed that better hosts give an instant improvement in user experience!
I have another search filter question, but I can create a new topic for it later. Thanks so much for all your help with your plug-in. I’m looking forward to added features and updates, and I have several new applications for it coming up.
