    Which of the three field controls is for Author? If it is not in the form, it needs to be, even if hidden, and the autodetect needs to be ON, see this screenshot:

    Is authors a custom field or a taxonomy? It needs to be a taxonomy to work this way. Looking at the form, it seems to be a custom field?
