Hi. I just bought your plugin and I’ve been trying it out based on the description:
“Users can filter by Categories, Tags, Taxonomies, Custom Fields, Post Meta, Post Dates, Post Types and Authors, or any combination of these easily.”
However, I am unable to figure out how to filter categories. It’s a job board, so users need to select the region, then the position wanted, then the specific category and the posts need to filter based on each selection.
1) I can’t seem to get the overall search to be limited to only specific categories, even when I specify them by number. It lists ALL categories, and we have about 200.
2) Then, for each category dropdown list, I can’t seem to get it to only show the categories I want there either, even when I specify to exclude them by number. It keeps showing ALL categories again. It excludes correctly the categories I specify by number, but it shows ALL the other categories.
So, how do I filter by categories?
It needs to look like this, where the terms underneath “Region,” “Position” and “Highest Level of Education” are categories:
Region:
Anywhere in US
Southeast
Northeast
[more regions]Position:
Principal
Teacher
Administrative
OtherHighest Level of Education:
PhD
Master’s Degree
Bachelor’s Degree
High School GraduateThanks!
Stormy
P.S. I can’t make these categories specific to the “CV” Custom Post Type (which is the Custom Post Type being searched) because the posts (CVs) being searched are automatically generated from Gravity Forms and Gravity Forms will not automatically map categories to a Custom Post Type.
If this requires custom development, we would certainly be willing to discuss it if you have nothing to do this week. 🙂
Trevor(Private) December 26, 2016 at 8:54 pm #78747Are you having the same Category/Taxonomy/Meta key on the form more than once? If you are, this is not allowed. Instead you would need to split the Category/Taxonomy/Meta key into more than one separate Category/Taxonomy/Meta key. Here is a really awful preachy lecture I wrote ? :

Sorry about the tone, but the message is right and it links to good plugins. If I missed anything (I probably did, my apologies), follow up and nudge me.
As to Gravity Forms. If the data is being stored in the standard posts table, and the taxonomy and other terms are in the post meta table, our plugin will find them. If they are not, then such support is not present in our plugin. It is possible that we may add such support for V3, which is in development, but custom work is not work possible at this level.
