So this should be easy for anyone, but I’m being a noob.

I have a list of categories used to group various posts together. Eg.

    Categories (With Hierarchy):
    -Color
    –red
    –yellow
    –blue
    -Shelter Name
    –SPCA
    –Pet Rescue
    –Happy tails
    …etc
    -Status
    –up for auction
    –urgently seeking home

I’d like to show a search option like so:

    Status: (Radio)
up for auction OR urgently seeking home

    Shelter Name: (drop down)
    1
    2
    3

However, when I attempt to filter by the first category, it removes other options or doesn’t find any results. I used the exlcude IDs to try format the list as I require but not getting accurate results.

    Ah. See this post:

You need to make two custom taxonomies, one called Color and the other called Status, and maybe one for Shelter Name.

Before you switch the terms over, make sure you edit each term so it is a parent and not a child.

Is it OK to close this thread?

Thanks Trevor, just a moment please. So Here’s what I have now:

    <bold being selected>
    Custom post type: pet
Category: Dog | Cat | Fish
(New taxonomy) shelter: SPCA | pet rescue | etc…
    (New taxonomy) pet_status: For adoption | urgent | etc…

On one form I’d like to only have a choice of two of stautses.

To do this I created a Radio input with the pet_status as the Taxonomy, and used advanced settings to exclude all theother statuses, so I’m only left with 2.

But if I select them, no results are found (Although the count shows thousands each). They seem to have the correct taxonomy attached, and I tried removing an adding it again with no success.
