We have a number of posts, which are categorized as “featured.” We’d like to do 2 things with them.
1. If a featured post is returned as a search result, we’d like them to come first in the results.
How would we do this? Could we use a meta value?
2. We’d like result to have a separate class, which we could use to add a border or style to indicate that it is featured.
Possible?
Thanks for your help! So far the plugin has been fantastic.
On 1, I suppose you could maybe use Relevanssi plugin (which is supported by S&F on the advanced tab), and then set the Category ‘Featured’ to 1 for importance in Relevanssi and all other categories to 0, thus putting the featured ones first.
I am not sure if the css of the featured ones would have any identifiable css class to be able to do the styling.
But, my guess is that you could write some php to test the categories in the templates and add an extra class if the post is featured.
I have done something similar for someone in their theme (in fairness, their theme made it really easy, otherwise I would not have been able to do this.)
