    Ross,

    Finally I have found the solution to the problem:

    category.php was perfect, including this: query_posts($query_string . "&meta_key=premium&orderby=meta_value");
    My problem was that I had to make the changes in ‘search.php file (or any other template…) not in category.php. I was assuming that the plugin it was detecting defaults from current page.
