I’ve got a WPBakery Post Grid using an S&F Pro search form as it’s data source. I noticed that when I try to change the “Order By” option in the “Data Settings” tab of the post grid, nothing changes. No matter what I select, the display order of the posts in the post grid doesn’t change. Ideally, I’d like them to be displayed in a random order (which is an option in the “Order By” option).
To verify that S&F was causing this behavior, I set the data source to my custom post type, and everything behaved as I’d expect. All the “Order By” options work as expected. I’d like to note that nothing else is broken when I’m using S&F. The search function works just fine, and posts display alright. It’s only that I have no control over the order in which they’re displayed. I noticed that the order they’re being displayed in is simply the order in which the posts were created. Does S&F change/override the “Order By” option? If that’s the case, is there a way to emulate “Order By” settings via S&F?
Trevor(Private) September 28, 2020 at 11:30 am #261018What you see is correct. You need to set the order in the form design in our plugin (it is on the third setting tab – ‘Posts’). Our plugin will override some settings in the Posts module. But beware.
The ‘random’ order that WordPress provides is PER PAGE of results, thus some posts may (and likely will) be repeated on many pages.
This is how WordPress does it, sorry.
