    Hi there

I am trying to get a search & filter set up here: http://www.collegesportsamerica.com/athletes-test

I am using the shortcode method (which probably isn’t right!) so have the search form all set up on the left. This uses taxonomies that I have created. However I can’t work out how to display the search results in the adjacent Visual Composer grid. For now it’s purely displaying categories of a Blog Grid – not connected directly with the search & filter results form.

Ideally I’d also like it to function as this: http://athletes-usa.com/apps/athletes/
where selecting any checkbox filters the results immediately rather than having a submit button. Is that possible?

    Many thanks

I think this post (and there are others like it) might help:

Thanks Trevor – that’s been hugely helpful and I have the page up and running here: http://www.collegesportsamerica.com/athletes

There’s just one little thing I can’t resolve: I created a new custom template for the grid within Visual Composer which works great BUT the template actually comes up as itself in the list of displayed items (right down towards the bottom). I’ve tried everything to exclude it but to no avail – are you able to suggest anything?

    many thanks

What Post Types are you searching? My guess is that includes Pages. If so, the template will have a WordPress ‘Page ID’ (you can see it in the URL when you are editing it). On the Posts settings tab, you can exclude that Page ID.

    Thanks for your message.

In the S&F settings I am searching under Posts only. ‘Grid Builder’ is an option but is not checked. Anyway I have included the grid template’s ID as a post to exclude.

Within the Visual Composer settings there is a place to xxclude posts, pages etc by title (in the Data Settings tab), but this doesn’t work even if I try and put in ANY page/post title ie no post titles will save as excluded after being entered.

    I’m stuck…

Just to let you know that after updating both the Theme and the Visual Composer plug in to latest versions that the issue still remains unfortunately.
