Tagged: post meta
I’ve got a list of names in a post meta dropdown. Works fine but I’d like the list sorted by last name instead of first name. I do have the last name in another field. Is there a way to display one field but sort the list on another? I’m using ACF.
I want this….
Joe Athens
Sam Bowman
George Conners
but I’m getting this….

You would have to do either manually (using drag and drop) or with PHP. To do it manually you simply edit the form, edit that form field, and you will see an option towards the bottom to fetch the values manually, you can browse and add them, then drag and drop them to the order you need).
Alternatively, you would have to write your own code to use this filter:

There are snippets in our forum of use of this filter, but I do not recall a user doing what you have asked, so you may need to create the code yourself.
