Customise text in drop down menus - Search & Filter Support

Hello,

Is it possible to change the content of drop down menus used in the search? The text at the moment is automatically taken from that taxonomy’s full title (e.g. ‘Holidays in Cornwall’) but ideally I’d like to shorten this (‘Cornwall’).

For Taxonomies, the only way to do that would be to use this filter to change the label:

OK thank you. This sounds a bit beyond my technical skills so I guess I will stick with the automatically generated labels for now.
