Tagged: categories, custom post type
Hi,
I’ve created a custom post type, in this case it’s “courses”, & it has some categories like “Hair, Fashion, Photography etc”
I’ve created a search filter & it’s working using the shortcode option for filter & results display but I’m unable to see/use the custom post type categories.
I use the “Categories” field in my search but it shows the main post type categories.
Is it possible for me to use my custom post type categories in the search?
I’ve used Custom Post Type UI plugin to create the new post type, so perhaps I’m missing a setting ther
Thanks in advance for your time,
Your plugin is great!
Cheers,
Luke
Did you use Categories or Custom taxonomies for the courses Post Type? You should have created Taxonomies (in CPT UI) for these (Hair, etc.) and then used the Taxonomy Form UI field type. What WordPres calls ‘Categories and Tags’ are for the standard Posts post type only. Some themes and other plugins use the terms Categories and Tags as labels, but they are actually custom taxonomies.
