    Elchonon,

    I think setting should be ok,

    unchecked “Template Options > Enable filtering Taxonomy Archives” means you will stay on post type archive page.

    If it’s not post type archive page, you shouldn’t use “post type archive” method

    if you want to show search result as sidebar or part of regular page, you should create custom search&filter template and use shortcode.
    Otherwise I don’t think filter work with BB modules.
