I know Avada seems to present some troubles with Search & Filter Pro, and I’ve tried piecing together a consensus or how-to, but I can’t quite seem to put the pieces together.
Here’s what I’m attempting to do:
We’ve got our posts categorized as A, B, C, D, E, and F.
I would like to create a page–we’ll call it Encouragement–that has a S&F form for categories A, B, and C only, with S&F using Ajax and the results displaying in the Large Blog layout format.
I would like to create another page–we’ll call it Resources–that has a S&F form for categories D, E, and F only, with S&F using Ajax and the results displaying in the Large Blog layout as well.
That’s it. I’m not sure how to set that up and if it can even be done. The results don’t even have to display in the Large Blog format. It can really be any of the formats, as long as it’s styled well.
Trevor(Private) June 5, 2018 at 9:37 am #179709With Avada, I have generally had to use our Shortcode Display results method, which requires its won dedicated results page:
https://searchandfilter.com/documentation/search-results/using-a-shortcode/
You will need two such pages and two forms. In the Tags, Categories & Taxonomies settings tab for each form, you will need to ‘Include’ the categories as a pre-filter.
You might want to follow the guidance in the documentation I gave for customising the results, and if you want the pages to look different, make sure you have a separate numbered results template for each form.

I’ve set up the two pages. I’ve set up two different S&F forms with their corresponding categories and tags, and inserted the appropriate shortcodes on the two pages.
It’s the styling part where I’m stuck. I didn’t know if there was an EASY way to pull one of the Avada blog layouts/styles into that results.php file (I know a teeny-tiny bit of PHP to make some small modifications…and that’s about it)?
Trevor(Private) June 5, 2018 at 1:33 pm #179744The last time I used Avada, I ended up having to hand code the results.php files, and it is not a simple matter. Until we release v3 of Search and Filter (not soon), that is the only way. With v3 comes the possibility of addons to provide integration with other themes, assuming that the theme landscape (which are popular and which are not) does not change.
