Yesterday I bought your plugin and have it working here:
https://www.tujerodne-vrste.info/tujerodne-vrste/tujerodne-rastline/If you select “tujerodne rastline” in the filter, you get to a new screen, which shows results in the form of posts. Could you give me some tips on how to adapt results.php to come to a grid view results similar as on the initial page. I would also not mind to have results visible on the initial page itself, but I could not find this solution.
Distplay results is set to shortcode and I followed the instructions for making a new search-result folder in a theme subfolder.
Thank you, JanaAnonymous(Private) February 1, 2018 at 8:06 pm #156871Dear Trevor,
Yes, you are correct it is the Infinite template. On the page https://www.tujerodne-vrste.info/tujerodne-vrste/tujerodne-rastline/ I have brought in the portfolio through the Good Layers page builder. In the portfolio settings I have several portfolio styles. Basically, I would like to make the results look as much as possible the same as those shown on the initial page (thumbnail photo, slovenian and scientific species name – this would link to the species description).
If you could give me some direction on where to start, I could give it a try, although I am not very skilled with html coding.
Thank you and best regards, JanaTrevor(Private) February 2, 2018 at 7:08 am #156927OK. We will try something then, and as you are familiar with your theme, the first part will be better done by you to help me.
Make a new test page for this in your theme, save it and note the URL
Make a duplicate of your search form, with a new name, change the Display Result method to Custom and enter the results URL from the new page you have made. Save this form.
Edit the new page you made to put this new form on the page, and also make a grid of posts. It does not have to be the Post Type you are searching for. Do not make any sorting or filter settings for that grid. Test the page. Does it sort of look OK? The search obviously will not work yet.
Still editing that page, in the same content block area as the grid, your page builder should allow you to add a content element (like a code or text element) directly above the grid. Put a shortcode like this in it (change the ID number to match the ID number of the newly made form):[searchandfilter id="1428" action="filter_next_query"]
Save the page and test the search form. It might only work with Ajax disabled, as the Ajax Container may need to be changed/set differently.
Anonymous(Private) February 5, 2018 at 1:15 pm #157395Dear Trevor,
It took some time, because we had a lot of snow on Friday which caused some power outage. Anyway, your explanation was very clear and evertything is not working. Is there still a way to have results showing on the same page or does it have to jump to a new page. Please look at the result here:
https://www.tujerodne-vrste.info/tujerodne-vrste/tujerodne-rastline/
One more thing that I would like to implement, but I am not sure if it is possible. On one page I would like to list species in the same format with thumbnails to posts, but only those which already belong to a certain category in the taxonomy I made. So they would already be filtered without someone needing to click. Is this possible?
Thank you, JanaTrevor(Private) February 5, 2018 at 1:43 pm #157401I think that the origin page can only be used for the results if you are able to edit the page using the page builder in the same way that you have built the results page. If you cannot edit it, then you must have a results page as it is now.
You can use a new Search & Filter form design just as a filter. You do not have to place the form on the page, but the shortcode and grid you do. Then, you can set the category in the Tags, Categories and Taxonomies settings tab as an include. Note that a page filtered like this cannot then show other Categories.
Anonymous(Private) February 5, 2018 at 1:54 pm #157412Dear Trevor,
thank you for your quick reply.
Could you please explain in detail this sentence: “Then, you can set the category in the Tags, Categories and Taxonomies settings tab as an include.”
In my case I have a custom taksonomy with two options and I would like to show filtered results from one on one category on one page from the other page on another category. I guess I have to include this criteria in the shortcode, but I am not sure how.
Thank you, Jana
