but now we need this for cars bikes trucks….
do we need one page for each or can we filter with this filter like this1 Type (cars, bikes, trucks)
2 Makes ( carmakes,bikemakes,truckmakes)
3 Models (carmodels,bikemodels….
Trevor(Private) September 16, 2016 at 5:56 pm #58475I cannot answer that question with any certainty. Our testing has been with sites with posts up to 3,000-5,000. The server setup is critical, and also that of WordPress. The size of the cache data is the key, and whether that can be held in local memory and also what processing power can be applied to it.
I would debate whether it is ever appropriate to have tens of thousands of live posts, within a CMS like WordPress (as WordPress currently sands, although the REST API offers a great deal of promise for the future). I would expect the majority will have very low visits, making the expense of keeping that data accessible from one single search inadvisable.
We constantly strive to make our plugin better and faster, and even now the next release is being prepared, which we hope to be faster.
Include child in parents means if you have a hierarchical taxonomy structure (not something I do) then normally the post count for posts with the parent ONLY as category count on that parent category, but enabling this option counts them in the child category AND the parent.
Trevor(Private) September 16, 2016 at 6:06 pm #58481I think that I would be inclined to have them as three separate custom post types. You could combine them, but if you extend the search form with more options, it is unlikely that the options will be the same across the three, so I would do separate search forms.
