I am trying to have my results appear on the same page as my filters. I believe i have the results going to the correct container, but for I can’t get any actual results to appear.

I’m using an Avada Theme with an Elementor portfolio widget. I would like the filters to reload my Elementor portfolio with the correct results.

Hi Ross:

Thank you for the info, and I understand your points.

For now, I’m using the theme templates to display post grids.

But as you point out, I could build archives with Elementor.

But would lose theme styling.

So I was hoping to be able to build, test both.

Then select the final solution that works best both short and long term.

But sounds like currently, it’s one or the other?

I hate updating while I’m working, it breaks so many things! But I understand your point there, so I went though and updated everything, wordpress, themes, all plugins.

Curiously, the only plugin I was not able to update was Search & Filter Pro, which gave this strange error:

I ended up having to grab the new version from your dashboard, delete old one on my server, and upload he new one.

Trying to add a page where the search boxes are on the right and the items populate/update on the left. I use the built in blocks and add a short code in each column

Right:[searchandfilter id=”3051″ action=”filter_next_query”] And left:
[searchandfilter id=”3051″]

However when i select a checkbox the result takes over the page and I lose the formatting. I have tried result pages as an archive, custom… always goes from 2 columns to 1 column result. I see instruction on how to do in elementor but not in default WordPress blocks. What am i missing?

Thanks so much for your detailed reply!

I added the code to make it horizontal and it looks almost perfect… But the submit button is aligned to the headlines instead of the boxes and it looks a bit off… It’d be also nice to have ability to have it vertical, too…

So, I don’t quite understand what it means to “use same post type”… How can I make it with different post types? If I use different post types, it works without you adding things?

They are all like archive pages of posts but uses different categories. “Using same post type” means they are all coming from POSTS tab? If so they ARE all coming from the POSTS tab… What would be my option to use different post types?

I thought that if I make an independent posts group apart from the ones POSTS tab, maybe it wouldn’t be “using same post type”, so I downloaded Custom Post Type UI plugin and made an independent post tab, and tried again, but it seems like Elementor doesn’t recognize the posts in the new post tab so I couldn’t make it work.

I cannot code and I am a beginner, so I want to keep it as simple as possible. If you make changes to my search forms, will I be able to make changes later on?

ok, i’ll try with text widget in few mins because it’s easy for me instead to create query by code (i use other elementor widget to create query).
