OK, I thought I did use the Elementor widget because it does show up even without the extension (S&F widget with regular WP “W” logo). But after I installed the extension, another Elementor widget (S&F widget with magnifier icon logo) showed up. So I selected it but it does not look the same as the screenshot in the link you provided. In the content tab, there is no Query. It only has a content list where I can select the post archive page.

    1. Why does my Elementor widget look different from the screenshot and shows no query and no nothing found message, and how can I fix it? I did choose the new S&F Elementor widget.

    2. In the Display tab in Search & Filter, “Elementor Posts / Portfolio / Products” choice showed up so I selected it and it also asks for the results URL. Is this something I have to newly make for this purpose? Or which URL should I use for this? It says “This should be the Full URL to a page/post where your results can be found – must contain the shortcode” but I don’t quite understand which URL I should choose.

    Thanks.

Looking at your site, you do not appear to be using our Elementor extension, and thus not using the method n this guide?

    Hi Bruce

    Thanks for the detailed updates.

I’ve been bogged down with a few things but I’m hoping to look at this again today / tomorrow – hoping to implement this change within the Elementor extension we have, so you would be free to use Elementor where you want, and not where you don’t want!

We’ll see anyway, I’ll update with my progress.

    Best

    Update.

When I UNclicked “Ajax” the submit button started working.

    As a result,

    https://creatorscycle.com/creators_life/
    This page started working perfectly.
It works even when I only type “elec” in the search field to find “electromagnetic”.

    https://creatorscycle.com/basic_life/
This page has a big problem.
When I go to General tab > Search in the following post types: > and choose its post type, which is “Basic Life”, all posts disappears from the archive. I even redid everything from the beginning, made the new template in Elementor, created new custom post type and assigned it again to the Search & Filter but same thing happens. If I choose the original POSTS & PAGES, it shows all the posts from Basic Life post type but this would mean the search won’t work. Even using different custom post type on this page, all posts disappears if I choose the correct custom post type.

    https://creatorscycle.com/artist_grant/
On this page, the category filters work. In the Search box, it works but it doesn’t work like the creators_life page. When I search “elec”, it doesn’t show “electromagnetic” but shows nothing.

    Please help.

Ok I can’t see much more than you mention.

Only that the page works when you are not logged in, and doesn’t work when logged in – so I guess they are hiding the page somehow from an admin user….

I see you are using Elementor which recently suffered from a large scale targetted attack:
    https://www.wordfence.com/blog/2020/05/combined-attack-on-elementor-pro-and-ultimate-addons-for-elementor-puts-1-million-sites-at-risk/

It is probably more likely that your site was compromised from this.

Can you get your host to do a security scan on your site? Have you let them know it was breached?

    Thanks

    Hi Howard

If you’re trying to display EDD downloads, but don’t have access to the shortcode used itself, then before each download widget, you need to put the filter_next_query shortcode with the correct Search & Filter ID.

We removed that from the docs, without taking into consideration your use case, so I’ll be putting that back in as an alternative implementation.

Something to note, for some reason in the past, when we used an Elementor shortocode widget, our filter_next_query shortcode wouldn’t run… it was strange, I’m not sure that’s still the case but we generally recommend to use a text widget at least for testing.

I think that covers everything, unless there is something different happening in your setup that I didn’t quite catch?

    Thanks

Thanks, Trevor, your suggestion seems to work.

I’m still using your Elementor extension, so I’m putting the search form on the page with an Elementor widget.

I’m also still putting the EDD downloads on the page using the ElemEDD plugin, instead of a shortcode.

I’ve added an Elementor widget to contain the shortcode you specified above (with filter_next_query), just before the search form, and that alone seems to make it all work again. I’m adding your shortcode using an Elementor shortcode widget, not a text widget, by the way, but that doesn’t seem like it should matter much.

I’m actually putting TWO sets of downloads on the page, using two different ElemEDD widgets (they’re filtered differently, based on tags.). I found that I need to add your filter_next_query shortcode just before the second set is displayed as well (though I am only using one search form at the top of the page, not two), in order to have it also be filtered by S&F Pro.

So as far as I can tell, this is a solution, and not terribly complicated. But it does feel a little inelegant – I’ve had to add non-intuitive elements to my page, to work around a change that occcurred between S&F Pro versions 2.5.0 and 2.5.1. Not a big problem, but if you had a way of making this unnecessary, perhaps in a future version of your own Elementor support plugin, or a revison to your integration with EDD, it would feel better. Just a thought.

    Thanks for the good support!

    Cheers,

    Howard

    Hi,

I added a DateTime field to Woocommerce Products using ACF. I set up my filter and search form and placed it on my Shop page using your Elementor integration. I can sort the results by this datetime field, but the Date Range filter returns no results. Can you please advise how to help that?

    Thank you

I am trying to show the results on the same page of where the post widget is and the results show as blank even though Vehicles match the filtered criteria.

I am using Elementor Pro and the Elementor plugin Extention for Search and Filter Pro
