I’m having a real issue setting this up and I’m not sure why. I set up a page with a 1/4 + 3/4 column layout. The search shortcode is in the 1/4 and the results shortcode is in the 3/4. I want it to mimic the look of having the search within a sidebar (for some reason I couldn’t get that to function correctly, either). I have the pro version, and I set all the options correctly as far as I can tell. When I search for something, or use my tag dropdown to find a post, I am directed to this url: http://guysbiteout.com/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=get_results&sfid=6871. Nothing is filtered correctly and for some reason it adds the admin in the url. I have the shortcodes set up on this page here: http://guysbiteout.com/search/

I had a look at your JS console on that page and there is a JS error from Search & Filter
I’ll have a look shortly and see if I can provide a fix.
This is why the page redirects to the Ajax URL instead of loading it with Ajax – the rest of your page, and layout looks fine – the fact that the initial results load in the results shortcode is a good sign and looks like you have configured correctly 🙂
Update soon
Thanks

It looks like the problem may be caused by your third field which says “all items” and the fact that there are no options in the drop down.
The plugin really should be able to handle this scenario so will push a JS fix for this but let me know if this workaround works (populating your “all items” dropdown with some options).
Thanks
Anonymous(Private) November 10, 2014 at 11:09 pm #7381Ahh yes. That works and it doesn’t at the same time. I removed the ‘all items’ field and the search works correctly. For some reason though, it says theres a second page of results on a search I just did and it doesn’t go anywhere. If I click page 2 it just goes back to the top of page 1. I’ll look into it more, maybe it’s a matter of retagging some of the posts.
Ross Moderator(Private) November 10, 2014 at 11:22 pm #7382Hey Erich
There seems to be something strange going on…
When I go to this page:
http://guysbiteout.com/search/ and select barbeque (1), the page reloads, tells me there is 1 result, shows me 1 result and says “page 1 of 1” and then shows me a load more results – which is strange.
To look at the ajax request for that page there is also 1 result:
So it sounds like something is setup wrong, either the results template has been modified and has a some kind of error in it, or you have done something strange with the shortcodes, for example having 2 shortcodes, or another dom element on the page with the same ID..
Hope that helps?
Thanks
Ross Moderator(Private) November 10, 2014 at 11:48 pm #7386Ah right, yes in that case then you’re doing it wrong technically.
Either edit the search page so it does not have the regular results underneath (I don’t think this is the best idea) or create a new page with any name that you like and place the results shortcode here – I think this is a better option because that way you get to keep the native WP search 🙂
Then just make sure that the settings “results URL” in the admin points to this page 🙂
Thanks
