Hi,
Further to installing the recent ‘beta’ version I’ve been looking specifically at pages using the S&F plugin. My search bar contains a name search, two taxonomy fields, a meta data field (town name) and a hidden meta data field (postcodes) to allow sorting.
I’ve been busy looking at the taxonomy areas and have only just realised that I no longer have any data in the town name dropdown meta search field. Instead, I get the ACF field name, plus a total (incorrect in any case because it only shows the number of posts in that CPT and not the number of towns). No town names.
I’d send you a screenshot of the settings but there’s no way to upload one here, but the admin login I sent on my recent post (I can’t find the post here) is still active, so you can see for yourself, if you like. I ticked the box saying ‘acf field’ and also tried it without.
Briefly ‘unhiding’ my postcode meta field, I see exactly the same there too. No data, just the ACF field name.
Any ideas?
Anonymous(Private) July 11, 2016 at 7:36 am #50762I just added another field to the search form, an acf field from the same cpt (catt_contact_tel) and that generates the same result. By all means log in and try the same thing; no problem there. To be honest it renders the form totally useless as it stands so I hope you can fix this as I’m hoping to get the site online this week!
Trevor(Private) July 11, 2016 at 8:54 am #50768When I looked, I saw 2 odd things. One was that the ACF meta key names you had selected both started with an underscore, but they should not. I have fixed this and the cache is re-building.
The other is much odder. The fourth item you have give the label of
Town, but the field is for telephone contact number? And the town field is hidden with custom css, and has no label? The content of each dropdown doesn’t always related to the title, but the title doesn’t seem to always relate to the meta key?
Anonymous(Private) July 11, 2016 at 9:33 am #50776Hello,
Yes, the mismatched fields was just from me messing about seeing what happened.
The underscore thing; I saw that too but all the fields I was able to choose from had the underscore and although I actually wondered how to delete it (one does the same working with formidable forms) I wasn’t able to.I just deleted ACF and installed a fresh version – it was updated last week anyway – and having looked at that, and whatever you have done, it all now works okay. I can see it’s still rebuilding the cache so your post above must have been recent.
Also, now, none of the meta fields I can select are prefixed with an underscore. How did you do that?
Anonymous(Private) July 11, 2016 at 9:42 am #50780The hidden postcode field was there at your suggestion, two months or so ago, in order to have results sorted properly. You worked out that it wasn’t possible to sort on the postcode meta field unless you added it as a hidden field.
Having put the fields as they should be, the output tallies up – custom post / taxonomy / taxonomy / meta field are correct. The first tax was to choose a county (which will include more than one postcode), the second to choose a postcode area, either on its own or within the results of a county choice, and the last to choose whatever towns are in the chosen taxonomy choices. I’m sure that’s not how someone who knows the right vocab would describe it, but it works for me!
