I have a food blog that we are using the search filter for, my question is how to add the terms for the taxonomies? Ie: in your movies demo you have the taxonomy “genre”, how do you add the terms under this taxonomy such as horror, western, indie etc. etc. I used the custom taxonomies wordpress plugin but I do not know how to include the terms or categories as shown in the demo.
In other words I have a section that I would like called Season. Under this heading I would like the search terms “spring, summer, fall and winter” in which to refine the search by.
Please help thanks

Personally, for a free plugin I use https://wordpress.org/plugins/ultimate-taxonomy-manager/
But I’m sure the plugin you use will be fine.
To add terms, you do this through WordPress and not this plugin.
So, for example, in WP dashboard, I have my posts – I mouseover the posts in the navigation I see “categories”.
The same is for taxonomies, so you mouse over “post” and you would see “season”, or if you have a custom post type, you will see it there and not for “post”.
Then you can create/delete categories just the same.
There is an option when using a taxonomy field, where you can “hide empty” – this means if there are no posts inside a term it will be hidden, maybe this is why you don’t see your terms?
Let me know 🙂

This is just a test site that I have created some dummy posts on, I have tagged each post with some of the taxonomies but when I select the filters, it doesn’t work properly. I would expect the posts to load by the filter result. It would be great if you could have a look, thanks!

You need to do 2 things…
First – you should likely disable the “auto count (beta)” feature as this causes some users more problems.
Second, you must select “use custom template” – and then you should enter a filename of the template file.
Let me know how it goes?
Thanks
