    Hey Colette

It sounds like a conflict in your tab “tags, categories and taxonomies”

Can you do a test, where there all settings have been removed on this tab?

    Thanks

    Hi Ross,

It works when I do not include specific Categories, Tags, or Industry IDs. It shows all posts.

So you must look at these settings and figure out what is wrong.

    Somewhere there is a conflict.

For example, if I INCLUDE tags, categories and taxonomies it means that only results that belong to the tags chosen, categories chosen AND Taxonomies chosen are displayed.

If for example a post belongs to a specific category, lets say “uncategorized” but does not have any industry assigned, it will never show in the results if some industries are INLCUDED – include is like saying “MUST BELONG” to one one of the IDs for each field.

    Thanks

    Hi Ross,

Okay, I think I understand. Is there a way to display posts if they do not have an industry assigned. So if there is a post in the “Brochure” Category that has a Tag “Mobile” but no Industry, wouldn’t the OR operator enable the post to display. Meaning that it has 1 or more attributes. If I Exclude instead of Include shouldn’t matter. There will be Resources that might not fit into any Industry. How could I handle that? Check them all for that Post?

Actually I think it is the custom post type that I have created that is sharing the same “Categories” and “Tags” as standard Posts.

    ‘taxonomies’ => array(‘category’, ‘post_tag’, ‘industry’),

I don’t know i removed the “Portfolio” custom post type as an option in search and it still doesn’t work.

    Hi Ross,

Thanks for the help. I figured it out and it was the custom post type Portfolio. I am going to have to convert all of the Portfolio Posts to WP Posts for this to work. Take care:)

    Ok Colette, sounds odd though.

S&F should work with regular posts and custom post types the same.

    Thanks

    Hi Ross,

I am pretty sure it was me trying to use WP Categories for a custom post type. When I went to a category created in the Portfolio type it showed 15 posts, but when I clicked on the Posts in the edit menu of Categories it showed no results. But if I clicked on the Posts in the Portfolio edit it showed them. Its ok though I don’t need a custom post type it is just extra overhead.
