Refine results, not add to them - Search & Filter Support

Having trouble getting my recipe to behave. Looking for this behavior:

Currently I have 2 category entries in my search. My desired result is:
Block 1: Select Category A or B, see all contents of selection
Block 2: Next block has checkboxes that refine everything *only within* Category A.

Currently, Block 2 shows posts from Cat A *or* B, PLUS the contents of the selection in Block 1. They don’t seem to be aware of each other.

Hi there

In the general tab, change the Field relationships: to “AND” – which I think will do what you need.

Either that, or inside your category field change the search operator to “AND”

Do you offer any configuration services for a fee? I’ve tried every possible combination and have been banging my head on this thing for weeks. I need to wrap it.

I see the issue, you are using a category field multiple times.

You cannot do this. You should use custom taxonomies (behave just the same as categories) for each additional field you want to create.
