Hey, you’ve probably answered this question before however digging through the forums I couldn’t find an answer that works so bear with me –
Anyways –
my setup: shortcodes w/ ‘downloads’ selected attempting to use Post Meta tags
Using Marketify configured with EDD using FES(front end submission forms)
In the form field it allows you to create a Meta Key. For example ‘Science’ which will have the same Meta-key of ‘science’.Using the Auto-suggest it returns only meta-keys eg: ‘Anatomy’, ‘physical science’ that have a product selected to the group even though there are groups such as ‘chemistry’ that never register.
Also what is confusing is that say if a downloaded item was tagged in both ”Anatomy’ and ‘physical science’ then the auto suggest will return a category that is doubled ”Anatomy | ‘physical science’.
I tried this in another category which returned a single filter for 9 subjects eg: ”
Economics| Geography| US History| World History| Ancient History| Lessons Plans| Game| PowerPoint| SmartBoard| Homework| Worksheet| Assessment| Other” because I thought if my item was tagged in all they would all show up separately, which is what I’m looking to do.I had some success creating Meta-tags in MDTF – sort panels but then I couldn’t get the Subcategories ‘Anatomy’ and ‘physical science’, etc selected in the FES to show up.
What do you think is the best solution going forward? Thank you

What is MDTF – another plugin?
I recommend Advanced Custom Fields for post meta data – if you want something that is hierarchical and synced (much better) then I would use a custom taxonomy –
Do you want to give custom taxonomies a go? I think the post meta is a little harder to maintain and setup – which I’m looking to improve in the next version of S&F.
Thanks
Anonymous(Private) October 2, 2015 at 4:21 pm #26401Yes MDTF is another filter that the site owner already had installed and tags so I’m not sure if it comes bundled with the theme or what but the marketify theme seems to run on plugins.
I’m going to look into the Advanced Custom Fields and see how tough it would be to integrate. But if its hierarchical and synced it may be best.
Thanks
Ross Moderator(Private) October 2, 2015 at 5:12 pm #26402If you want syncing and hierarchical you best look at a custom taxonomy – if you can use one, do, because currently support is much better for taxonomies ๐
