Is there anyway to create a custom input type. So, for example, it shows ONLY the top-level categories, but lets the user expand/open the tree to show subcategories. Something like

A hierarchy checkbox/radio button option is way too long if there is a significant amount of child categories, and the combo box does the same thing, but in a dropdown.

I could even a flyout for children — much like the WordPress admin menu itself. Just something to help only show the top level parents, but have access to the entire hierarchy.

This would be hugely helpful as the current options are way too limiting, but I love everything else about S&F.

This is something we are likely to add for V3. I am aware that some users may have created customized JavaScripts to do this, but I have no snippets or examples I can share with you, sorry.

Just wanted to request this myself, it would be a great feature.

I would appreciate a JS solution if someone has one to share. Thanks.

    Hi

I am not aware of any way to do this at the moment, sorry.
