I noticed that S&F uses/recommends the plug-ins CPT UI for custom post types and taxonomies, and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) for custom fields. In a previous WP installation I used ToolSet Types to cover both these areas. However, I noticed that ToolSet Types is no longer supported and actually caused strange behaviour when I used it lately with the latest WP/Divi versions.
Can you say something on Pods Framework as an alternative to ToolSet Types? I’d prefer using this because it seems that this is a single plug-in that deals with CTP, custom taxonomies AND fields instead of having to use two plug-ins (CTP UI and ACF). Thanks for your guidance.Trevor(Private) September 30, 2019 at 12:41 pm #222335We support custom fields and taxonomies made with Toolset Types and PODS, but some of their extended functionality may not be supported. ACF required special support, hence we mention it, but even then some of its more complex relationship functionality is not supported right now (for example, repeater fields). In the V3 production/release cycle of our plugin, we intend to explore further extending support for all of these excellent plugins.
In particular, what was it about Toolset Types usage that did not work for you?
Anonymous(Private) October 8, 2019 at 11:16 am #223073I was using the free version of Types, and after updating WP and Divi (last update before was from 2018), I kept on getting error messages in the backend, compressed vertically in a single column, hardly readable. Once I deactivated Types, things were back to normal. It appears that Toolset now only support a premium version and I don’t really need all the functionality they offer right now. Thus PODs seems a good alternative for getting custom post types, taxonomies and fields.
