    Hi,
I love this plugin, it works great. However, I have already spent time formatting my results, and don’t want to start over (you can see regular shop page results by scrolling to the bottom of the page). The results need to be fixed quite a bit to be usable. Is it possible to use this as a widget on my shop page without also having it take over the way results are formatted?

    Thanks!

    Ah not yet…

You must specify the results template.

If you are using WooCommerce then let me make a suggestion which I know has helped me in the past.

Check the classes that are applied to the body tag on your shop page and also apply them to the search results page:

I haven’t mentioned this to anyone yet, but I am working on much better woocommerce integration, ie, where you just drop the widget on your shop page and everything automatically works 😉

Can’t give a timeline on that yet but some updates I’m working on right now will help move this forward.

    Thanks

PS just had another look – it looks like you might have the auto count feature on? I would disable this feature as its coming back (fixed) in the next version.

Also, for testing, and testing your template, I would disable Ajax first – get it working how you want, then re-enable ajax last – otherwise debugging will be very difficult.

    Thanks

Thanks so much for your help. The new woocommerce functionality sounds great.

I attempted to figure out the different page templates being called, but found all pages seem to use the same class post-type-archive-product.

However I did find this solution and attempted to follow it (I’m using Avada):
    http://www.designsandcode.com/wordpress-plugins/search-filter-pro/faqs/#h-bad-template

I couldn’t find the code snippet mentioned in search.php, so I assume Avada has updated that code.

Any chance you happen to know how to fix this issue in Avada? I seem to have 3 states for my shop page
    1) Landing page, without filters selected (small icons)
    2) select filters, results are formatted using archive.php, (medium sized icons)
    3) unchecking filters brings up a third display which is not good

In the end, I just want all 3 states to display as LIST before and after filters are selected (once I figure out how to do that). Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Hi Michelle

I only see the two states, states (1) and (3) I believe.

To get a better understanding of how it all works I would actually recommend to disable Ajax until you are finished.

What may be confusing is, Search & Filter does not work with the shop page – it has its own page.

So, when you are on the shop page, and click Search, what is happening is it is getting the results from the search results page and loading them into the shop page.

So, disable ajax, and you will start to see what is actually happening – I know it might look ugly, but this is the best way to start. Then when you submit the search form you will be redirected to a search results page.

All the template customisations etc will be visible here, and once you get your search result page looking right then we can re-enable ajax.

Let me know when you’ve done that and if you have any further queries.

    Thanks
