    You should be able to do this in the form design, on the Tags, Categories and Taxonomies settings tab, you can set an INCLUDE for that specific tag term.

    Thanks for replying, Trevor,
    but then if I include it there with the other tags we want to filter the user can turn it off and on. And I can’t see a way to have that tag selected by default (and hidden from the user).

    One way to do this would be to include that tag in the url that leads to that page. It would also be possible to pre-select the field with that value using javascript on page load, but it would have to be written in a way to avoid adding it back in when not wanted by the user. Every time the page reloads, where maybe the user has selected a different tag.
