Hey,
we have a search form including ten filters in our sidebar. We now would like to have the same search field in our header. But only the search field! Not the filters. If I duplicate the search form, remove all filters and put the shortcode into a widget, the search does not perform right.
Is there a trick?
Thank you very much,
Gregor

There are 2 ways of doing this – neither which are fully supported within the plugin yet:
1) Use the same shortcode but use CSS to hide the various form elements that you don’t want to be visible
2) Create a html form yourself that submits to the same URL as where your results appear – you’d have to match the variable names in the URL for example for them to be picked up by the plugin (in your case the search forms name would probably have to be
s
orsf_s
– just do a test search and see the variable name in the URL).Thanks

I already sent this via email, just thought it might be interessting for the community.
So I tried the approach with the same widget. It performs the search, HOWEVER the search is not performed in both Widgets. Meaning if I search for “Product A” in the Header Widget, the search is not performed in the sidebar widget. So as I click than on a filter in the sidebar widget, the search “Product A” is deleted and the Sidebar Widget performs a completelty new search.
Can you help me?

Do you have site/login details? I searched my inbox for an email from you but couldn’t find one.
Thanks

Anonymous(Private) April 8, 2015 at 7:39 am #14713Hey Ross,
long long time ago we thought we might have a solution for that problem. Now it is not working, again.
On https://scoutbee.com/search we have a top search bar that has nothing to do with the filter widget on the left side. However, it does not work. Everytime I search in the field it will work, until I choose a filter on the left side, than the previous search is lost.
As our other search form on our Homepage on scoutbee.com is working, I assume that has something to do with the search form beeing on the same page like the filter.
Hope you can help me!
Thank you very much!

If you read up, you mention your developer found a solution, but you never told me what it was?
I think your developer already has a solution to this?
our developer found a solution. I have no idea what he did. If you want I can ask him for feedback.
Thanks
