    Hi there

I would like to setup Search & Filter Pro so that it works exactly as in your movies demo.

    We have the following setup:

    — a basic directory for suppliers
    — a custom post type for suppliers with categories & tags
    — We use ACF to populate the content of this custom post type. One of the fields that we need to search on is location which is as ACF select field

I can get the location select boxes to show via the S & F settings — the problem is that we keep on getting redirected to a separate results page instead of the filtering happening on the same page.

Right now we have this set up as a test only — there is only one listing for that location. Could this be the issue that multiple entries is required for it to work properly or am I missing a setting somewhere for this to work?

I have another query that I logged separately for the sake of keeping them apart.

    Kind regards
    Francois Wessels

    Hi Trevor,

As an example the search is on the category pages → http://staging.elegant-entertainment.com/entertainers/african-entertainment/

If you say fields & field groups, isn’t that the basis of ACF? Our location is an ACF dropdown select?

Currently, if we search on, there are currently three CPT’s all (ACF fields are used to populate the CPT’s), with the location Gauteng, so I would expect to see all three if I filter on location, yet it redirects only to one..

Could you possibly point me in the right direction?

    Kind regards
    Francois

Normally, you would tick the boxes only of the Post Type, which I am guessing is Suppliers, which is what Interactive Gumboot Dancing is. The field group IS a Custom Post Type (the place where you define the fields), but they hold no data that you would want to search. The same applies to Fields.

So, your form setup should have only ‘Suppliers’ checked.

OK, that makes sense. Is this the reight instructions to get it to work (I’ve just now noticed the link, sorry):

Is there anything else that I need to get this to work?

    Kind regards

    Hi Trevor,

I am a bit stumped here — I have now followed the instructions as per setting up the filtering in Divi.

ON this page (that I used in the custom template options) → http://staging.elegant-entertainment.com/entertainers/african-entertainment/ it appears to be working.

If I go to another category archive eg. http://staging.elegant-entertainment.com/entertainers/bands/and search on location I am redirected back to http://staging.elegant-entertainment.com/entertainers/african-entertainment/

This is one search form on all the category archive pages, I use one Divi template to display all the category archives.

Would it be possible for you to assist?

Just one more though — if there was more than one listing on that page with Gauteng as location, will I be redirected to an archive containing both? We do not necessarily need the ‘fancy ajax filtering’ if for location we are redirected to a page as with categories and tags it will also work.

What do you think will be the best approach here?

    Kind regards
    Francois

    Hi Trevor,

Sorry for all the posts bu I am updating as I go along. I have set the search back to basic archive search as I am unable to get it working.

Would it be possible for you to take a look?

    Kind regards
